The Forgotten Man By Jon McNaughton

The Forgotten Man By Jon McNaughton – Here is the video of the painting by Jon McNaughton called The Forgotten Man and the detail is both inspiring and disturbing.

The Forgotten Man by Jon McNaughton

Disturbing because in the painting, Obama is standing on a trampled US Constitution while presidents of years past, from Washington to Bush, look on with dismay.

The man on the bench is the ‘Forgotten Man’ representing every American man, woman, and child. He has been forgotten as politics overtake a country founded on that very constitution. It also seems that the more recent presidents are less aghast at Obama’s blatant trampling of the US Constitution and the forgotten man than those of earlier years.

Here is The Forgotten Man video, see for yourself:

FCC Petition 2493

Did you receive an email regarding FCC Petition 2493 and the movement to ban all religious broadcasts from radio and television?

Here is what you need to do if you are concerned. Nothing. It is a hoax, a rumor, and a miscommunication but read on because the story is fascinating.

The claim is that atheists are petitioning the FCC to get religious broadcasting banned from American airwaves. Some versions of this re-circulated email claim that Madalyn Murray O’Hair petitioned the FCC to ban all religious programming. Madalyn Murray O’Hair never petitioned the FCC nor was she ever granted a hearing which is not surprising since there is no law or federal regulation that gives the Federal Communications Commission the authority to prohibit religious programming on radio or television.

The real RM2493 was neither brought forth by O’Hair, nor did it have anything to do with with a ban on religious broadcasting. RM 2493 was put to the FCC in 1974 and was turned down by the FCC in 1975. The original petition asked that channels reserved for educational purposes were used for only that purpose, and not for religious groups or any other group to use for their own purposes.

Because of the wide-spread rumor concerning RM 2493, Madalyn Murray O’Hair became more than ever the “Most Hated Woman in America” as she was dubbed by Life Magazine in 1964. She played a major role in getting organized prayer banned in schools. But O’Hair could not possibly have petitioned the FCC, at least not recently because … well … we hate to break the news but the woman is dead.

The mystery does not end there. In August 1995, O’Hair, along with her son and granddaughter, vanished from their home while cooking their breakfast and were never seen nor heard from again. Rumors spread like wildfire that they had extorted millions of dollars from groups associated with American Atheists and disappeared with the loot.

The mystery of their disappearance was solved when, in June 2000, Gary Karr was convicted of conspiracy to commit extortion for his apparent participation in the plot to kidnap O’Hair and her family for their money. As part of a plea bargain, another party to the crime, David Waters, led police to the graves of three bodies which were later identified as the remains of the O’Hair family.

So before you sign the ‘angry mob petition’ remember the old saying – “Ready, fire, aim! – FCC Petition 2493 is just a hoax.

Christmas 2011 New Traditions

Christmas 2011 New Traditions – If you really want the US economy to improve, use these new traditions for Christmas 2011 and beyond.

Author – unknown

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods — merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is!

It’s time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?

Everyone – yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber?
Gym membership? It’s appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.

Who wouldn’t appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.

Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the Benjamins on a Chinese made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.

There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants – all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn’t the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this isn’t about big National chains – this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.

How many people couldn’t use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?

Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.

My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theatre? Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn’t imagine. THIS is the new American Christmas tradition. This is a revolution of caring about each other, and isn’t that what Christmas is about?
