You do not have your facts straight. There were four players involved: Clausen, Brian Smith, Armando Allen, and James Aldridge. James Aldridge is 21.

Please. For the love of God, give it a break. The other “incident” was for being a passenger in a car of another of-age person who had just purchased alcohol. Do you honestly think there is ONE other NCAA football player that hasn’t been to a party with beer? I don’t, and I think you need to do something better with your life than throw stones at college kids for being college kids.

Charlie Weis is taking some heat for his response to questions about the beer olympics, but honestly I think he has been more straightforward with his feelings on the matter than most coaches would have been. Sure Clausen is underage and yes it is illegal, but college kids on every campus across the country participate in activities like these without any ramifications. Sure Clausen is the quarterback of Notre Dame, but people cannot and should not expect a kid to grow up overnight because he is in a high profile position. He has to be given the same learning curve that kids his age get. One of the great things about Notre Dame is that athletes and regular students interact with one another socially. I can assure you that is not the case on many other college campuses across the country. Let’s give Jimmy a break and move on, he is after all a college student first and foremost…

well we all know college kids drink, but the point is the NCAA wants to hold its athletes to a higher standard.. now granted its not like some NCAA officials are showing up at frat parties looking for athletes getting drunk, but when the evidence finds them… well thats just being dumb, yeah go to your parties, get drunk, have a good time, just dont put your pictures all over the internet and you are all set.. learn from matt leinart
