Having Tom Watson cover the British Open on ABC is a rare treat as Watson won the 1983 British Open on this very same Royal Birkdale course.
Tom Watson says he couldn’t resist doing coverage of the British Open: “There’s no better venue to give this a try.”
But Watson doesn’t intend to lecture viewers. “Overall, if I had one criticism (of TV golf), there’s too much discussion. … Let the pictures do the work.”
And that’s the latest news on the British Open TV coverage.
