HP Battery Recall – The newest HP battery recall has been issued by the Palo Alto base Hewlett Packard – Check to see if your HP battery is affected.

The HP battery recall includes about 70,000 laptop units sold under the Hewlett Packard and Compaq labels.

Hewlett Packard and Compaq notebooks involved in the HP battery recall were sold between August 2007 and March 2008.
About the Hewlett Packard battery recall, the following statement was released, “the recalled lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.”
Affected models include:
HP Pavilion (models dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500 and dv9700); Compaq Presario (models A900, C700, F700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500 and V6700); HP (models G6000 and G7000); and HP Compaq (model 6720s)
If you believe you have an HP or Compaq battery included in the latest recall, remove the battery and contact Hewlett Packard for a replacement.
