Obama Food Stamps, also being called Obama Bucks or the Obama Dollar has created quite a ruckus.
The Chaffrey Community Republican Women said in their October newsletter that the face of Obama would appear on food stamps instead of on American currency like other presidents.
Obama supporters are in a twist because they say that the Obama Food Stamps picture is racist; showing a picture of Obama with donkey ears and pictures of fried chicken and watermelon.
Diane Fedele, president of the Chaffrey Community Republican Women, said she plans to send an apology letter to her members and will apologize at the club’s meeting next week. She said she simply responding to a comment Obama made about how as an African-American he “doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”
“It was strictly an attempt to point out the outrageousness of his statement. I really don’t want to go into it any further,” Fedele said in a telephone interview Tuesday. “I absolutely apologize to anyone who was offended. That clearly wasn’t my attempt.”
