Geraldine Ferraro Dead – Former vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro is dead at the age of 75 while battling blood cancer.
A family friend said that Geraldine Ferraro died just after 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Massachusettes General Hospital.
Ferraro ran as the vice-presidential candidate for Walter Mondale in 1984. She was the first female candidate on a major party ticket.
Mondale and Ferraro lost by a landslide in the election against the incumbant, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. The republicans took 49 of 50 states.
